The journey begins before you land.
Bhutan is reached through Paro International Airport, one of the world’s most dramatic landings, set between Himalayan peaks. Only two airlines operate scheduled international services into Paro: Drukair (Royal Bhutan Airlines) and Bhutan Airlines.
Direct flight connections to Paro
Drukair and Bhutan Airlines both connect Paro to the following destinations:
- India: Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Bodhgaya, Guwahati
- Nepal: Kathmandu
- Bangladesh: Dhaka
- Thailand: Bangkok
- Singapore
Arriving by road
Visitors travelling from India may also enter Bhutan by road at four official land border crossings:
- Samtse and Phuentsholing (western Bhutan)
- Gelephu (central Bhutan)
- Samdrup Jongkhar (eastern Bhutan)
Guides are mandatory for all visitors entering via land borders who plan to travel beyond the border towns.
On arrival at Paro
A Department of Tourism visitor information centre is located at Paro International Airport, where you can exchange currency, collect a local SIM card, and get assistance from the host team.
Taxis are available at the airport rank. There is no other public transport directly from the airport — your hotel or tour operator can arrange an airport transfer.
