Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) is Bhutan’s most ambitious offering to the world: a new kind of economic hub founded on the principle that well-being and growth are not at odds. Conceived under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, GMC reimagines urban life and global collaboration through the lens of compassion, sustainability, and long-term thinking. GMC operates under a unique mandate that gives it the flexibility to adopt the world’s best business practices. While it remains part of Bhutan, it has its own independent judiciary and full legislative powers. T o provide a familiar environment for international investors, GMC has adopted Common Law principles. This includes using Singaporean laws for corporate and tax matters, and Abu Dhabi Global Market regulations for financial services.
